Pitman Training in London and Manchester has come up with a style of teaching that it claims is better than evening classes for time poor students. “More flexible, more convenient and allowing better retention of learning points,” claims Principal Shilpa Wymer. “Our unusual approach blends computer-based training with one-to-one support in our comfortable training centres, so we have created a model where students attend when it suits them. There’s no waiting for term to start and you don’t have to come at the same time every week. And maybe best of all, it’s impossible to miss a class.” “It’s great for people who work shifts or who can’t plan a week ahead. Essentially Pitman Training has developed a flexible training methodology that fits around the student rather than students having to fit around us. That’s why we say it’s better than evening classes.” Run by Holborn Training under franchise, the Pitman Training centres in London’s Notting Hill and Holborn, as well as in Manchester, are also open Saturdays so students can even blend a little weekend learning into their programmes. During the week, they’re open till 8:00 pm most nights. They offer up to a year to complete diploma programmes and up to 3 months to complete single subjects, which most students find very generous, another area where Principal Wymer feels they offer more flexibility than the evening classes offered by traditional colleges and night schools. The Pitman name has been synonymous with office skills training for over 160 years and is particularly well known for secretarial training, Sir Isaac Pitman having launched his world-famous shorthand system backing the 1870’s. Today, Pitman Training is also widely respected for its bookkeeping courses, admin training and anything to do with learning Microsoft Office. Shilpa Wymer again: “It’s fair to say that most of our students will take at least a Word course or an Excel course as part of their studies and most will learn the whole Microsoft Office suite, often to expert level.” To find out more, contact Pitman Training by email or by phone: London Notting Hill – 020 7792 5214 London High Holborn – 020 7025 4700 Manchester – 0161 923 6814
