If you look at your team, do you have people you feel need their heads banging together?

The creative sector being all about expression, and "expression" and "communication" not necessarily meaning the same thing, in a hothouse of expressive and technical talent, communication can often be assumed to be happening - wrongly and potentially disastrously.

Back to the matter of banging heads together - no, I'm not offering to come and bump heads, nor advocating that as a strategy, but the urge to do it does indicate an underlying problem with staff engagement. As do people blowing hot and cold with their enthusiasm, sudden outbursts among the team and people at senior levels suddenly feeling the need to stamp their authority.

My name is Ivor Randle, and while I do scriptwriting and music, on the Professionals Network I'm all about the training. As a trainer with a creative background, the advantages in keeping training delivery interesting are obvious; but lately I've been reversing it: bringing media operatives to an understanding of the need for a stable management core practice that takes away some of the grind and actually frees up the creative process.

Also, banging heads - even Clarkson didn't get away with that one...
