I was looking for a card payment company, but I had no idea where to start. I’d set up bars before but never had to find a payment service. I searched online for card machines and Paymentsense came up top in the results right away.
You offered the best rates and a very friendly, easy to deal with service. I was always going to base my decision on getting the best credit and debit card rates, but customer service is really important especially when it’s something that you don’t really understand.
I really liked that Paymentsense were all about working with small businesses. Most people would assume the only people they can go to about card payments is their bank. I didn’t want to work with a bank and my own bank gave me the worst rate ever.

How have card payments benefited your business?

I always said that whenever I opened a shop we never wanted charge to use card, that’s why low rates were so important to us. We have no minimum spend for paying by card in the shop. Yes there is a small transaction fee on a £2.50 bottle beer, but it’s way outweighed by someone coming in and spending £200 on beers. It really looks bad when you try and charge someone 50p for a transaction. I’ve walked away from places because they don’t take card.

Businesses shouldn’t be afraid of people paying by card. All those transactions fees don’t add up to much at the end of the day - but you will lose customers if you don’t accept card.
