‘’It’s been a pleasure working with you and your team. I especially appreciate your flexibility in the early days and the gentle ‘push’ you gave us to consider new ideas. I believe we are in a great place to understand how you and your team can best support us on our journey in the future’’.
Having spent 12 months simplifying the brand structure at HCL Workforce Solutions – the marketing team faced the daunting task of creating simple brand guidelines, hero imagery and a new tone of voice. The guidelines had to draw on HCL’s heritage yet present a fresh new image to reflect the company’s new positioning and the start of a new chapter. Claire Billenness, HCL’s director of sales and marketing wanted to engage a boutique creative agency that would be willing to work with her in-house designer and respective brand managers. Not an easy brief, one company, seven sub brands, a new position in the market and a reputation to rebuild. The body of work had to represent a collaboration between the agency and the business. It also had to align closely with HCL’s mission, vision and new corporate values (which had been formed by the employees and ratified by the Board) and the biggest challenge involved a 10 week turn around.
‘’Wonderful took time to understand the brief and worked extremely well with our in-house designer and helped the marketing team push boundaries with the use of colour, imagery and tone of voice. They were able to help HCL develop an extremely useful tool kit resulting in the quick turnaround of portfolio of brochures, stationery (and e-stationery), adverts (print and on line) and web content for all seven divisions. We invested in photography creating a useful library of imagery.
It was this collaborative approach that enabled the in-house team to involve the business heads in the process resulting in good ‘early’ buy in, quick decision making and a high level of understanding. This process made the internal roll out for the new brand guidelines very easy and as it had obvious links to our corporate values, it was readily accepted.
HCL has now extended the brief with Wonderful to help the business create a corporate values tool kit. This will be used to help HCL’s teams around the UK ‘visualise’ HCL’s corporate values in the working environment.
