I engaged Gemma to work with me on a new business plan, since I was operating without one. I had been in business as a free-lance web-designer/developer for around 9 years, and whilst I had plenty of work I was feeling that I had hit some sort of plateaux, just doing what I did without giving it much thought. I knew that I was stuck, but was unsure about what to do about it.

Gemma spent considerable effort cross-examining me about where my business had been, where it was and how I wanted to go. The later was not easy for me, but Gemma patiently kept at it and eventually I came up with three specific areas to work on which were gradually incorporated into a business plan.

The plan went backwards and forwards several times, undergoing many revisions, a process which I found very helpful. At all times Gemma was insightful about my position and what I needed to do, and became a ‘critical friend’ to ee-web design. When she needed to be firm to get me out of my ‘coding cave’ to focus on the bigger picture she was able to do ask sufficiently difficult questions, something which shows a real level of skill on her part.

What is really exciting for me, is that looking back now on the process I can say that Gemma enabled me to pull together the many and varied threads running though my imagination as I considered the future for my business. Of the three main targets that we worked on together all of them have seen progress, and one especially, that of delivering training course, is moving forward rapidly.

I cannot recommend Gemma’s services highly enough. It’s clear that she is working from a position of great experience, and brings great lucidity to what she does. The proof for me was the clarity of direction that working with her gave ee-web design, and the fact that I have been able to move forward in all areas that we worked on.
