And I’ll teach you how.
For years, we’ve been told to set SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Sounds great in theory.
But here’s the problem: Most SMART goals set you up to fail.
Why? Because they focus on structure, not execution.
They tell you what a goal should look like but say nothing about what happens when:
❌ Life gets in the way.
❌ You lose motivation.
❌ Priorities shift.
❌ You hit a roadblock.
This is why I teach SMARTER goals instead:
✅ S – Specific (Vague goals lead nowhere.)
✅ M – Measurable (If you can’t track it, you can’t improve it.)
✅ A – Achievable (Big goals are great, but they need to be realistic.)
✅ R – Relevant (If it doesn’t align with your bigger picture, why bother?)
✅ T – Time-bound (Deadlines create urgency.)
✅ E – Evaluate (Regular check-ins prevent failure.)
✅ R – Realign or Reward (Adapt when needed OR celebrate progress.)
Here’s the truth: Most goals fail because they are set and forgotten.
Without evaluation, realignment, or rewards, your goal becomes just another abandoned resolution.
So, be honest: Are you setting SMARTER goals or just checking boxes?
Let’s hear it—what’s one goal you’re working on, and how are you keeping it alive?
