This shocking statistic is exactly why I started speaking at schools about the importance of financial education.

A recent study found that just 26% of young adults had any form of financial education in school, leaving nearly 4 million school leavers without a fundamental understanding of money management a decade after it was added to the curriculum.

In the absence of structured education, many young people turn to social media for financial advice, with nearly a third seeking guidance from influencers and 25% relying specifically on TikTok.

Financial literacy isn’t just about balancing a budget; it’s about empowering young people to build financial resilience, reduce debt, develop investment habits, and encourage entrepreneurship all of which contribute to long-term economic stability.

We need to do more. This is why I’m committed to helping the next generation develop the skills and confidence to manage their money effectively.
