  • The northeast remains the UK's most affordable area to rent, at just £655 per month. Private rental prices have recently seen the highest annual increase in over five years, indicating a significant demand-supply gap.
  • While mortgage rates have risen, repaying a home loan could still be more economical than monthly rent. However, with average property prices now 9.1 times the average salary compared to 3.5 times in 1997, affordability remains a major hurdle for first-time buyers.
  • The struggle to save for a house deposit is real for many tenants, stuck in a cycle of high rental payments. Finding a balance between renting and buying is crucial in today's real estate market.
