Employment Lawyer Samantha Mangwana today discussed live on Sky News the decision made today by the Supreme Court regarding Equal Pay. The decision means that claimants have six years to bring forward a case rather than 6 months. Samantha said that this decision is one step towards unblocking the problem of Equal Pay. It is a narrow point about time limits, but a step in the right direction in an area of law that has been a problem for so long. Samantha also went on to say that 'the Equal Pay Act was introduced in 1970, and since then later Discrimination laws have changed much in society – racism is no longer socially acceptable, homophobia is condemned where formerly it was the norm. But Sex Discrimination in pay remains an entrenched and systemic problem. It is time to eradicate unequal pay from the workplace'.
