Important Update for Those with Colleagues Visiting the UK
An Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) will soon be mandatory for certain individuals who do not require a visa for entry into the UK. This ETA, electronically linked to the individual's passport and will be required for:
- Stays of up to 6 months for tourism, family visits, business, or study.
- Creative Worker visa concession for up to 3 months.
- Transit through the UK, even when bypassing UK border control.
Who Needs an ETA?
- Individuals from Qatar: Required for travel on or after November 15, 2023. Applications open October 25, 2023.
- Individuals from Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, or UAE: Required for travel on or after February 22, 2024. Applications open February 1, 2024.
- Other Nationalities: No ETA requirement as of now. Additional countries will be added later.
Who Doesn't Need an ETA?
Exemptions apply for individuals who:
- Hold a British or Irish passport.
- Have existing UK residence, work, or study permissions.
- Possess a visa for entering the UK.
Residents in Ireland: Exemption applies if the individual is legally residing in Ireland, does not require a visa for the UK, and is entering the UK from Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, or the Isle of Man.
