"The purpose of life is a life of purpose!"
I first heard this at a seminar in the early nineties and thought to myself, "Here we go, another of these American one-liners they love to trot out!"
But the speaker, a lady called Polly Harteis, then threw out a challenge, "So, what's yours?" It was a turning point in my life, I realised I didn't have a purpose.
It took time but three months later I had it and it has driven what I do ever since. "To ensure that my company continues, long after my time, as a legacy for the future so that it can continue to help people with their careers."
Without this as my 'reason why' I doubt whether any of the intellectual capital I have created since then would exist.
