• A personal cure for procrastination

"Procrastination is the thief of time" said my great uncle Ernest aged 80. "What's he talking about?" said I aged 20.  By age 30 I was an arch-procrastinator!

The cure? When I left my post in Denmark to return to the UK, my staff put on a leaving do, but my technician, Ole, was ill and couldn't attend: instead he sent me a letter of thanks. "I must call Ole and thank him in return" I thought, again and again and again.

Eventually six months later I did call only to be told, "Oh I'm sorry, haven't you heard, Ole passed away two months ago."
