    A ship in harbour is safe: if the rudder is broken it doesn't matter because the ship isn't going anywhere. However, 'not going anywhere' isn't what ships are designed to do!


    Once the rudder is fixed, the captain doesn't say, "Right, let's go and sail aimlessly about and see where we end up." No - the captain has a predefined destination, route and timeline all pre-planned well before the anchor is weighed.
