What is the Kickstart scheme?

The Kickstart scheme provides funding to create new jobs over a 6-month period, for 16 to 24 year old's receiving Universal Credit, who are at risk of long term unemployment. The scheme is Government funded, meaning that employers who take part receive funding.

The funding covers the following:

·       100% of the National Minimum Wage (or the National Living Wage depending on the age of the participant) for 25 hours per week for a total of 6 months

·       Associated employer National Insurance contributions

·       Minimum automatic enrolment pension contributions

·       A grant of £1,500 per job to cover setup costs and employability support

How can the HR Dept help?

We understand HR can be time-consuming, and how unfortunate errors, can be costly and disruptive to your business. As an approved Kickstart gateway the HR Dept can apply on your behalf so that you can focus on supporting your new Kickstart recruit(s).

If you choose us as your trusted Kickstart gateway, our commitment will be to continually support you from start to end; ensuring you legally and effectively get the most out of the scheme, making sure your business ticks all the boxes and remains compliant.

We will also support:

·       The application process, submitting the application on your behalf.

·       The job advert and posting the advert with the Job Centre Plus.

·       A dedicated careers hub to support your Kickstart with the employability skills as required as part of the scheme*

·       Assisting you with any transitional period following the 6-months scheme, if a Kickstart remains employed within your business.
