It seems to me as I go about my day to day work that recruitment is an important issue for companies. You want the right talent in your business, right? So why is it pushed down the list when it comes to the crunch of actually getting it done?
Is it a lack of desire or experience to interview? Maybe it’s a timing issue and everyone’s just too busy? Or, dare I say it, the thought of having to deal with a recruiter!!?
Now, I get the fact that some of us have a bad time on the usual social media outlets, but most of us who have been around long enough have made a good fist of helping people find jobs and jobs find people.
With the arrival of AI, AR, and all manner of other High Tech gadgets designed to making hiring easier things will no doubt speed up and cut down on the face time needed, but will it really help nail on the ideal person for your business? I doubt it.
I agree that business should embrace technology, and arguably if you don’t you’ll be left in its wake, but when it comes to understanding your business, your product and the people who help design ,make or sell whatever it is inside out, upside down and back to front you can’t beat the experience of sitting down with someone over a coffee or beer and having a chat.
