Health and Safety training company fined

Better Safety do not offer compliance based training so you can be assured this article is impartial and objective for all who read it.

It is very sad to read a training provider was at fault for this incident (amongst others).

When you undertake training there is a degree of implicit trust that yourself or your employees are provided with one of the foundations for demonstrating competence.

If a training provider that trains hundreds or thousands of people gets it wrong....that's a whole lot of people returning to their employer with incorrect knowledge.

Please make sure when selecting a training provider that you take time to review their training programme. Sadly, many times it comes down to Cost | Time....Forgetting the other element of any project....Quality!

Quality is often the most overlooked factor when deciding a training company for compliance based training.  A simple 'tick box' exercise for many organisations.  But the times have changed for both training providers and employers....

With the introduction of the sentencing guidelines for health and safety offence in February 2016, there has been a swarm of prosecutions totalling millions of pounds in penalties.  Once upon a time the fines for certain breaches such as CDM where capped at £10,000.  Now, this tests of culpability, level of harm and, most significantly, company turnover, are critical factors in the determination of fine.
