When I was 11 years old, we had sports competitions towards the end of the year at school, “Field day”. I planned to participate in one of the competitions; “Walking on stilts”.
During those years I was a chubby boy, and it was in many ways a barrier that I wasn’t able to handle and overcome until many years later.
To cut a long story short, I asked my late father to make me a set of stilts, and I trained and trained, running through our garden, up and down the stairs for more than two months. I became extremely good with it. I probably prepared more than any of the other kids.
On “D-Day” while we were supposed to start our little competition, I “failed to participate”, my “FEAR” prevented me from what was inevitable; winning.
That day was 41 years ago, and it is still something that I always tell my children about the trace it left in me. Nowadays, when my children go for the swimming or sports competition, I coach them and urge them to participate, to overcome their challenges, to make things happen.
Going through perturbation is normal; nevertheless, it is the key to significant achievements. Seeking support is vital to overcoming different challenges, physical, psychological, educational, spiritual.
As a business owner, we think we know it all; unfortunately, this is not the case. No matter how knowledgeable you are, guidance is essential to put you on the fast track.
- Set clear vision on what you want to achieve:

- Invest in the right tools to help you out
- Train well / put systems in place
- Create contingency plans/teams
