Let’s challenge it.
More experience doing what?
More reconciliations?
More VAT returns?
More year-end prep?
Experience improves competence.
It does not automatically improve pricing power.
I’ve seen:
- 2-year bookkeepers confidently charging £1,000+ retainers.
- 15-year bookkeepers stuck at £300 per month.
The difference wasn’t technical ability.
It was:
- Packaging
- Confidence in conversations
- Clarity around outcomes
- Boundaries
Waiting to “feel ready” often just delays the uncomfortable but necessary shift in how you present your value.
If your clients are already happy and you’re delivering well, the gap isn’t experience.
