Simple question - are you in a job or a career?

 Show Interest
The Oxford English Dictionary gives us the following definitions. Career > NOUN. An occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person’s life and with opportunities for progress. Job > NOUN. A paid position of regular employment.

Are you in a job or a career? Note the subtle difference between the two - it’s that little phrase, “with opportunities for progress!”

Have you made much progress lately? If not then part of the reason could be that you don’t have the most appropriate information about how to manage your career. After all, as Disraeli said, "As a general rule, the most successful man in life is the man who has the best information."

It’s a bit like knowing how to bring up a child, how to manage your finances, how to develop a relationship. We’re not taught the “how to” bits at school or college, we just have to pick them up as we go along! But, if you are so minded, there are courses for all of these including one from Proteus Consultancy that deals with Proactive Career Management. #careermanagement #careeradvice #personaldevelopment #careerguidance #careerfutureproofing
